Total North is a provider for SMB groups in the Yukon for IT services including voice/data as well as backup. In the summer of 2014, Total North became a preferred partner of Selkirk First Nation (SFN) in the capacity of a Managed Service Provider of SFN’s unified communications requirements.
SFN required significant updates and, in late 2014, a modernization plan took form that included:
The 2014 cutover alone was a major install that included deployment of the desktops and software, phone system, significant cabling and redesign of the LAN, deployment of a PoE switching platform and an enterprise grade UTM device. It took a team of six employees over a three-day weekend working up to 20-hour days to ensure come Monday morning the system was up and running for business as usual!
Total North was hired by SFN to update our network system and convert us to a digital telephone system. The quality of installation for both project was excellent. Total North worked closely with our Executive Director to ensure communication was done with staff in a timely manner and work was scheduled to minimize disruption to staff. All Total North staff were excellent in explaining things to staff in a manner that was not too technical. SFN staff immediately developed confidence with the Total North staff, and in fact often brought other technical issues to their attention and in return they were always pleased to assist in correcting the matter. We were also very impressed with the cleanliness of all the staff, no wires and debris were left laying around.
Since the installation, Total North has continued to provide excellent support remotely to SFN. They often call to check in about whether there are any issues with workstations or the telephone system.
